No one was injured in a Wednesday night robbery in Spring Garden Township, in which cash was taken and shots were fired, according to a news release from police.

The incident occurred on Elmwood Boulevard, just south of East Market Street at about 11 p.m., police said.

Police said two suspects approached two adult victims and displayed handguns. The suspects took a book bag and an undisclosed amount of cash from the victims. No one was injured during the incident.

The suspects are both described as black males, approximately 6 feet tall with thin-medium builds and were both reportedly wearing dark, hooded sweatshirts and darker pants. Both also had bandannas covering portions of their faces, police said.

During the robbery, but one of the robbers fired two shots from a handgun as they were fleeing, according to Spring Garden Township Police Chief George Swartz.

One of the shots struck the victims’ vehicle, but the victims were still standing outside of it and were not injured, Swartz said.

Swartz said that at this point, there nothing to indicate the latest robbery is connected with another one which occurred at York College, but “that’s something we’re certainly going to look into.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Spring Garden Township Police at 717-843-0851 or call 911. Callers may remain anonymous.
